Apple partners up with Hyundai to build the new Apple Electric Car

In early 2021, there were various reports suggesting Apple of soon launching its new electric car. Well, now the news seems to be true as Apple is partnering with Hyundai Motors to build the new electric car.

With the recent news of Hyundai launching its self-driving electric car by 2027, the company’s shares have risen by 20%. According to the report, the two companies are preparing to launch self-driving electric cars by 2027.

According to a report by Apple Insider, Apple will build the new car in partnership with Hyundai and later in partnership with General Motors and European carmaker PSS. Moreover, the first Apple car will be built on Hyundai's e-GMP electric vehicle platform. Hyundai will design and produce the components of the car. Hyundai's subsidiary Kia Motors will manufacture the Apple car in the US.

Apple and Kia reportedly struck a 3.5 billion deal. The vehicle’s plant will be built in Georgia. The plant will produce 100,000 Apple cars every year from 2024.

The Hyundai e-GMP platform was unveiled in December 2020. The company had announced to build a new generation BEV model. From 2021, the company's Ionic 5, as well as Kia Motors' new battery-electric car, will be built on the e-GMP platform.

It is claimed that the battery to be built on the platform will provide a range of 500km on full charging. The company claims that it can charge up to 80% in 18 minutes through a high-speed charger. It is also claimed to give the car a range of 100km on 5-minutes of charging.

According to Kia Motors, Apple is working deliberately for its new car in collaboration with Hyundai Group, General Motors, and PSS. The new Apple Electric car is likely to be launched by the year 2025.
