Apple becomes the best-selling smartphone company after iPhone 12’s debut

Apple has now become the largest smartphone selling firm in the global smartphone market. The tech giant has reached this new height after it launched the new iPhone 12 line-up a few months back. This data is based on the smartphone sales study report released for the fourth quarter of 2020.

According to the report released by Market Tracker company Gartner, Apple sold 79.9 million units of iPhones in the fourth quarter of 2020. This is a 15% increase compared to the data at the corresponding period of 2019. Apple alone accounted for 20.8% of the global smartphone market share in the fourth quarter.

Acquiring an immense number of sales records in the last quarter of 2020, the tech giant has also become the world’s largest smartphone selling brand. On the other hand, Apple’s tough competitor, the South-Korean tech giant Samsung has lost its pace this quarter.

Compared to the previous year’s fourth quarter, Samsung smartphones sales have declined by 5.4%. This time, the firm has been able to sell 62.1 million units of smartphones resting in second place. Samsung holds a smartphone market share of 16.2% for the 4^th quarter of 2020.
