5 Car Brand halts their production in India due to lockdown, might affect import in Nepal too

With the harsh start of the second wave of COVID-19 in India, various states of the country have gone under complete lockdown recently. And with this disaster coming in, various business sectors are starting to bear a huge loss while the auto sector also happens to be the one.  

Slowly various automakers have stopped their production in respective plants concerning the safety of workers in times of viral coronavirus infection.  

As the first wave of COVID-19 had already pushed the auto-sector to drain, now the second wave has again blinded the firm to darkness. In addition, the demand for four-wheelers in the auto market is very high but auto companies aren’t able to meet the needs causing a further crisis.

Here are the 5 companies which have already halted their production in the Indian market due to the ongoing lockdown situation and safety of the employees in this viral infection.  

• Maruti Suzuki (Highest Car manufacturer in India) 

• Toyota  

• MG  

• Nissan  

• Tata  

Not only cars but various bikemakers have also closed their production concerning the ongoing situation of the country. Companies like Hero and Honda have completely shut down their production facilities while TVS, Yamaha, and Bajaj are operating their plants at minimum workers capacity.  

Effect in Nepal? 

Even in Nepal, a country depending on Indian products, the sudden shutdown of plants in India seems to have an adverse effect. 97% of the vehicles sold in Nepal are imported from the Indian market which openly shows the graph of the Nepali auto market’s reliance in India.  

This scenario has concluded us to the fact that we might also face the problem of vehicle imports in Nepal once lockdown ends. This way, the Nepali auto market might possibly not meet our demands. Let’s hope for a positive for the scenario.
