The budget for the fiscal year 2077/78 brought by the Nepal Government recently has imposed increased customs duty on the price of electric cars imported in Nepal alike other fuel vehicles. The firm has also increased the excise duty in these vehicles.
The government has increased the customs duty on electric vehicles to push back the policies and programs introduced a few days ago. The previous tariff rate of 10% has been increased to 80% and excise duty will also be levied on the basis of motor capacity.
The price of the electric cars will now be tripled due to the government’s decision of an 80% increase in customs and excise duties.
