As the world switches to electric vehicles (EVs), Nepal is also making efforts to make the EV sector more accessible. More and more EV charging stations are being built all over the country, making it easier than ever to drive an electric car without worrying about running out of power.
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is playing a big role in this change. They’ve launched 51 fast EV charging stations across highways, major cities, and even bus parks. This is an exciting step towards making electric vehicles more common in Nepal. Let’s take a closer look at where these charging stations are located!
Charging Stations by NEA
The NEA has set up 51 charging stations across all seven provinces of Nepal, making sure EV drivers can easily find a place to charge their cars. Out of these stations, 26 are built for bigger vehicles like buses, trucks, and vans, while the other 25 are meant for smaller cars. Here’s a simple look at where some of these stations are located.

These charging stations come with a range of features, including DC and AC chargers, allowing three vehicles to charge simultaneously. They can charge your vehicle in about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the battery size.
EV Charging Stations in Kathmandu
Kathmandu, being the capital city, has seen a big increase in EV charging stations. Private companies like Cimex Inc (who sell BYD cars) are also setting up their own stations. Right now, there are six charging stations run by the NEA in Kathmandu, along with other stations set up by private companies.
