EV Import Report in Nepal- January 2023

Kathmandu. The government imposed a ban on car imports until December 15, but even after opening, car imports could not increase. In the first month of 2023, January, a total of 608 units of jeeps, cars and vans for private use have been imported.
Out of total imported 608 units, the number of electric vehicles is only 447 units. While it seems that the import of vehicles running on petroleum products is only 161 units.
7 brands including Tata, Hyundai, Neta, BVD, which have been importing and selling electric vehicles in Nepal have imported EVs in January. According to the data of the customs department, these seven brands have imported 447 units of EVs.
In January too, Sipradi Trading, the official dealer of Tata Motors, brought the most EVs. Sipradi has imported 339 units of Nexon EV and Tigor EV. Since the company has also brought a unit of car that runs on petroleum products.
Lakshmi Intercontinental Pvt Ltd, the official dealer of Hyundai, has brought 27 units of Kona Electric to Nepal. Out of a total of 114 units of cars brought by the company, 27 units of EVs and other petroleum-powered vehicles have been imported.
The import of Neta V, which is doing very well in EVs, has been very good. It is mentioned in the customs data that CG Motors under Chaudhary Group brought 57 units of Neta V and 2 units of Hauji EV to Nepal.
Symex Inc. Pvt Ltd, the official dealer of BYD, has imported 9 units of its latest SUV Ato 3 in January. Jiminy Incorporated Pvt Ltd seems to have brought 10 units of Resence Mini City Car to Nepal.
