Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has announced to increase excise duty on cars above 1500 cc by 5 percent in the budget of the Fiscal Year 2079/80. Earlier, excise duty on cars between 1500 and 2000 cc was 70 percent, but it has increased by 5 percent to 75 percent.
The government has levied the same tax on cars, jeeps/vans up to 1,500cc.&nbsp;
Similarly, excise duty on vehicles between 2,000 and 2,500 ccs and 2500 to 3,000 cc has also been increased by 5 percent. Now, excise duty of 85 and 95 percent will be levied on these capacity vehicles respectively.
Similarly, a provision has been made to levy 105 percent excise duty on vehicles above 3,000 ccs. All these new tax rates will come into effect from tomorrow.
