The first thing that comes to the mind of a person riding or buying a bike is its mileage. And more likely in a fuel dependent country like ours, mileage acts as a key factor.

Mileage is one of the crucial factors to look after while buying a motorcycle/scooter. This is why the sellers give more priority to the mileage while discussing about the machine’s features.

Well, if are already a bike/scooter rider, today we will be discussing on five of the important tips that can help you increase your ride’s mileage.

Five Mileage Improvement Tips

1. Servicing

Servicing is the top key factor to consider while riding a motorcycle/scooter. Timely servicing of the machine reduces the chance of parts failure in the future run. If the engine is clean and free, only then it can provide good mileage.

2. Monitor the Tire Pressure

Another key habit that we often deny or not acknowledge is the bike’s tire pressure. If the air pressure in the tires is less, then the bike provides less mileage. Therefore, the mileage can be increased by keeping the tire pressure in balance.

Also, use the same size of tires on both ends as this also plays an important role to increase the mileage.

3. Turning off the Engine in Traffic Jam

Turning on the engine even around traffic jams can also reduce the two-wheeler’s mileage. Therefore, whenever you are in a long traffic jam, make sure to turn off the engine.

4. Chain Cleaning and Lubrication

This is the most important tip, particularly for motorcycle riders. It is very important to periodically clean and lube the bike’s chain. If you mostly ride around dusty roads, the bike needs regular cleaning. This makes the working mechanism of the chain much smooth which in turn provides increased mileage.

5. Ride at a constant speed

When the throttle is not used uniformly followed by unnecessary braking, this increases the fuel consumption on the bike/scooter. Also, don’t accelerate the bike to a high rpm level at a low gear. Therefore, make a habit of riding the bike mostly at a uniform speed.

That’s why most of the two-wheeler companies explain to ride the bike around a speed of 50-60km/h for best mileage. The speed of the bike determines its mileage.
