The Department of Roads and Transportation is set to expedite the process for the construction of a flyover in Gwarko, Lalitpur in the current fiscal year. The Department has stated that the contract agreement will be signed for Gwarko fly-over first followed by another fly-over construction plan at different places of ring-road as planned.
Arjun Jung Thapa, Director General of the Department, said that the construction work of the flyover will be completed within next year even though the contract was signed in the current fiscal year. According to him, the design work is being done for now. The department has also planned to build flyovers in Satdobato and Ekantakuna area.
Director Thapa added, "Contract agreement will be signed for the construction in two other places only after the construction starts in Gwarko."
The Government plans to build a flyover at three intersections of the Koteshwor-Kalanki road, which was expanded four years ago in collaboration with China. The department has planned to build a flyover in the chowk area where there is mostly heavy traffic. It is said that flyovers are being constructed at other intersections of the ring road and at various intersections in urban areas.
