Hyundai discontinues the production of the Santro hatchback

Hyundai Motors has stopped production of Santro hatchbacks in India. Considered very popular in the entry-level hatchback segment, this car has been available in the Indian market since 1998. The first generation Santro, sold in the Indian market till 2014, was discontinued thereafter.

Hyundai also provided a rear AC vent and touchscreen infotainment system in this car of the budget segment. The company has decided to discontinue production of the hatchback as sales have been declining in the recent run.

This car which has been sold 150,000 units since 2018 has recently been limited to 2,000 units per month now. Hyundai has decided to discontinue production of the Santro in India after seeing the growing popularity of small SUVs and the government's decision to make six airbags mandatory on all cars and its effect on the pricing.

The Centro is a very popular hatchback car even in the Nepali market. Its first-generation model was once one of the best-selling models in the Nepali market.

The new model that came later was not able to win the hearts of Nepali hatchback connoisseurs. This car was very expensive compared to other brands in this segment.
