Jawa has recently become a popular name among Nepali bike enthusiasts as the new moto brand has just entered the Nepali market. The brand is very popular in the Indian market while the firm is entirely focused on retro-bike making.

Jawa Moto Overview

Jawa Moto is in fact a Czech motorcycle brand that recently got a resurrection in India in December 2018, by Classic Legends (owned by Mahindra) through a licensing deal.

As the firm had successfully occupied a good market share in the Indian market, Agni group, the sole distributor for Mahindra vehicles in Nepal had planned to release Jawa moto in Nepal. And now the time has finally come as the firm has initially launched its two models in the Nepali market—Jawa Classic and Jawa Forty-Two.

Moreover, the firm also introduced its new premium cruiser machine-- Jawa Perak, a few days ago.

Specs Overview

Coming on to the design, both the Jawa models are designed with a retro classic feel that somewhat gives a glimpse of the popular Royal Enfield Classic. Both the models are offered in two ABS variants—Single-Channel and Dual-Channel.

Engine and Gears

Both of the models (Jawa and Jawa Forty-Two) are powered by the same BS6-compliant 293cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-stroke DOHC engine that delivers a power of 27bhp along with a peak torque of 28Nm. The bike’s engine is mated with a 6-speed gearbox transmission.

 

Design

The bikes slightly differ in terms of design as the Classic version gives a feel of a classic Bullet alike design from the 60s with polished chrome, rounded headlights, and the classic round speedometer while the Forty-Two gets a sportier riding stance with a matte finish and an offset speedometer.

Suspension and Braking

The Jawa classic gets a telescopic fork suspension on the front along with a gas-charged twin shock absorber on the back. The braking is handled by a drum bike at the rear and a disc on the front. Both single, as well as dual-channel ABS, are available as options.

Likewise, the Jawa Forty-Two also resembles the same suspension unit along with the same braking option. Also, both models have the same fuel tank capacity of 14 liters.

Price and Availability

The new Jawa motorcycles will now be available in both Jawa showrooms in Nepal which are located at Uttardhoka and Teku as of now. The company has soon planned on expanding its locations across all the major cities in Nepal such as Itahari, Pokhara, Chitwan, Butwal, Dharan, and more.
