Agni Energy, the subsidiary of Agni Group has successfully launched the Mahindra e-Supro in Nepal. The 8-seater electric mini-van runs on electric power alone and is one of the few electric vehicles in Nepal.
The e-Supro is not the first electric car from Mahindra. The company had earlier launched the e20 followed by the e2o Sportz and the e2o Plus. And while those cars don't sell in numbers, at least not as many of the other hatchbacks they sell, the number seems to be plenty for an electric car.
The e-Supro is a passenger van which can accommodate 8 people comfortably. It's most suited for schools, kindergartens and offices where the travelling distance isn't very long. This electric vehicle has a range of 106KM which is going to be more than enough for a days' commute.
The 25kW battery has plenty of grunt for city commutes and is definitely enough for Kathmandu traffic. It takes 8 hours and 30 minutes to charge it from 0-100%. So, leaving the van for charging overnight is a good bet. And with the pace electric vehicles are progressing in our country, it will be a while before we see it go mainstream.
Sadly though, you can't just buy it yet. Yes, it officially launched in Nepal and will soon be available for purchase but as of now, all you can do it wait.
The company is further looking into the drivability of this passenger commute in the Nepalese roads. With all kinds hilly roads and whatnot, there's a lot more the company has to check and verify. And since it is an 8-seater, the company also has to check if the vehicle can go uphill with so many people onboard.
The company has been testing the e-Supro in Nepal for over 6 months now. The price of this mini-van is Rs. 34 Lakh and 15 thousand. What is your take on this new electric vehicle? Let us know in the comments section down below.
