MediaTek has unveiled a new 5G chipset for tablets and notebooks called Kompanio 900T. It is built on the 6nm process and has an octa-core CPU architecture with two ARM Cortex-A78 cores and six ARM Cortex-A55 cores. There is an ARM Mali-G68 GPU and a MediaTek AI processor as well.

The Kompanio 900T supports LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage. It has a 5G modem and supports standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) dual-mode networking with full coverage of 5G sub-6GHz, along with 5G dual-carrier aggregation and Voice over New Radio (VoNR) services. There is an UltraSave power-saving technology, which promises to reduce power consumption by up to 50% while using 5G. The chip also supports Wi-Fi 6 with 2×2 MIMO technology and Bluetooth 5.2.

Talking about the display, MediaTek Kompanio 900T can power up to a 2K display with up to 120Hz refresh rate. It has Mediatek’s MiraVision technology that can upgrade SDR video to “near HDR quality” and HDR to “near HDR10+”. Furthermore, the chipset supports up to dual 20MP cameras or a single 108MP shooter. It can also record up to 4K videos.

The company claims that the processor is “designed to empower high-performance mobile computing platforms with exceptional features and everywhere connectivity, while also pushing the boundaries of battery life.” According to MediaTek, devices powered by the Kompanio 900T chipset will be available soon.
