Microsoft acquired ZeniMax for $7.5 billion | approved by both US and European commission

Microsoft now has the green flag to acquire ZeniMax

Both the US and European Commission have approved the acquisition of ZeniMax media by Microsoft for $7.5 billion. ZeniMax is one of the largest independent game publishers.

First, the European Commission approved the acquisition and one of their statements read  “The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, given the combined entity’s limited market position upstream and the presence of strong downstream competitors in the distribution of video games,”. The transaction was examined under the normal merger review procedure. The US regulators also followed the decision granting the approval of the acquisition.

Microsoft now has the green flag to complete the acquisition process which will bring the massive gaming collection of ZeniMax to the Xbox family which includes Arkane, Tango Gameworks, Bethesda game studios, and more. The Xbox also confirmed that the Bethesda titles will soon be available in the Game Pass subscription service over the coming months.
