Microsoft has unveiled its new OS the Windows 11. The big focus for Windows 11 is a simplification of the Windows user interface, a new Windows Store, and improvements to performance and multitasking. The new OS will be a free upgrade for Windows 10 users and start rolling out by the end of this year. Here we will be going through all the changes coming to Windows through the new Windows 11 OS upgrade. 

Windows 11 brings significant changes in the appearance of the UI. The windows now feature rounded corners compared to the sharp edges of Windows 10. The UI is transparent with a soft frosted glass look to it. 

 

Centered Task Bar

 

 

The first change you will notice in the Windows 11 is the central taskbar. Microsoft breaks the tradition of the left-sided taskbar that started back with Windows 95. But users can push the taskbar back to the left side of the screen if they want. Also, the new Start menu drops the Live Tiles for a more typical-looking Chrome OS or Android-like launcher.

 

Snap Layouts

 

 

Microsoft adds a new Snap Layouts to Windows 11. Snap layout is a collection of apps that you can easily access together on the taskbar which is great for multi-tasking. Along with Snap Layouts, Snap Groups also makes it easy to arrange multiple windows quickly around your desktop. It will also remember this layout so it can be carried over when moving between monitors. This feature is helpful for users working in multiple displays hooked up to a laptop. 

Support for Android Apps

 

 

One of the big news of the event is probably the support for Android Apps in Windows 11. Microsoft has partnered with Amazon and Intel and will be using Intel Bridge technology to bring android Apps to windows 11.  Users will be able to search through the Windows app store and if they find an Android app, the user has to sign in to their Amazon account to install it.

Microsoft Teams integrated into the taskbar

 

 

Microsoft has integrated the Teams app into the taskbar that will make it easier to chat with your colleagues and friends. Microsoft says it will help you connect instantly to the people you care about right from your desktop. 

Widgets, Gestures, and Stylus Haptic feedback

 

Windows 11 also bring AI-powered Widgets that understand you and your preferences. Built-in widgets include a news feed, weather, and maps. Along with Widgets, Microsoft also improved the gestures to provide a great tablet PC experience. Furthermore, Windows 11 will also support haptic feedback with a supported stylus. 

 

Auto HDR, Direct Storage, and Xbox Game Pass for Gaming

 

 

Microsoft brings Auto HDR to Windows 11. Auto HDR will allow the OS to automatically apply more dynamic color and lighting to older games. Similarly, Windows 11 will also feature Direct Storage technology from the new Xbox consoles. This new Xbox feature will boost the storage speed on Windows 11. Besides that, Xbox Game Pass is also coming into Windows 11 with a new Xbox app.

To check if your PC is compatible with Windows 11, just go to your PC Health Check app. Your PC should have these minimum system requirements to upgrade to Windows 11.
