Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is in the final stages of finalizing an agreement for the construction of electric vehicle charging stations in Nepal.
NEA, which had invited bids a year ago, has agreed to move ahead with the construction process within a week. A tender was called for the construction of 50 stations at a cost of about Rs 600 million.
Sagar Gyawali, Project Manager of NEA's electric charging station, said, "Preparations have been made to evaluate the bids and reach an agreement within a week.” He added, “13 companies had proposed projects for the construction of 50 charging stations across the country.”
A 142kW DC charger will be placed in each of these charging stations. A single charging station is roughly estimated to cost around Rs. 30 lakhs.
