OnePlus Nord 2 will have a custom Dimensity 1200-AI chipset

Just a week ago OnePlus Nord 2 was listed in the AI Benchmark with MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset along with 8GB RAM and Android 11 operating system. Now the tech company has come forward saying that the device will feature a custom version of Dimensity 1200 called “Dimensity 1200-AI”, all thanks to MediaTek’s Dimensity 5G Open Resource Architecture program.

Collaborating with MediaTek, the new AI chipset will improve the photography experience, enhance the display, and improve response times for faster and smoother gaming.

Talking about the collaboration, Susie Liu, Head of Strategic Planning at Nord, writes, “The MediaTek Dimensity 1200 is a powerful processor. But the “Never Settle” spirit means always striving for better. So, by collaborating with the MediaTek team on top of the Dimensity Open Resource Architecture, we were able to push the limits of this processor and bring you a host of AI-based features which enhance the user experience across a variety of touchpoints.”

The AI-customized chipset uses DOL-HDR technology to improve the image and enhance the color range and color accuracy of videos. OnePlus Nord 2 5G will be capable of recognizing up to 22 different photography scenarios with its AI Photo Enhancement. Talking about enhancements, the Smart Ambient Display  now utilizes AI to dynamically control the brightness of the screen depending on content and lighting around users.

Apart from the new enhanced AI chipset, OnePlus didn’t reveal much about the smartphone. If you look into the rumors, the upcoming OnePlus Nord 2 5G will feature a 6.43-inch AMOLED display. This FHD+ display will support a 90Hz refresh rate. Powering the device will be a 4500mAh battery and it will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor.

OnePlus Nord 2 will feature a triple camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor followed by an 8MP and 2MP secondary sensor. For selfies, there will be a 32MP front-facing camera. Apart from these rumors, a MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI chipset and Android 11 operating system are pretty much confirmed.
