The government of Nepal is soon preparing to open registration for new taxis. Keeping an eye on the increasing need for convenient vehicles for passengers, the Department of Transport Management has been planning on moving this step ahead.
Gagan Bahadur Thapa, the director of Department of Transport and Management had said that the taxis currently running around the city roads have become old while they are planning on replacing the old ones with new convenient vehicles. Also, the upcoming Taxis will be above 1200cc as stated by the department.
More on, he also said that the department has been researching on which and how much capacity of taxis will be required for the city trails. “The registration for the new taxis will be opened now for only a limited amount of time”, he added.
Most of the taxis currently running around the capital city have an 800cc engine while these taxis also have narrow seats and low seat capacity which makes it uncomfortable for passengers. In the case of Nepal, Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 is one of the most popular models used for Taxis.
