French carmaker Renault is set to launch a new generation Duster SUV in India soon. According to media reports, the company is working on a new model of Duster and is expected to launch it in the international market within the next two years.
Renault has recently discontinued production of the Duster. The Renault Duster was the company's most successful SUV. About 40,000 units were sold within a year of the launch of the Duster. The company has stopped production of Duster due to the recent decline in sales of Duster.
Upcoming Renault Duster
According to the report, the next-generation Renault Duster will be built on the CMF-B LS platform. The platform is similar to Volkswagen's MQB AO IN platform, where models including the Tiguan, Vertus, Slavia, and Kushaq are manufactured.
The CMF-B LS platform is specifically designed for developing markets such as India. The new Duster is expected to use a hybrid powertrain for better fuel efficiency. The SUV is expected to include square fenders, LED headlights, and LED DRL features.
In India, the Duster SUV was available in two variants, including a 1.6-liter petrol engine and a 1.5-liter K9K diesel engine. The company launched the facelift version of the Duster in India in 2016 with the automatic gearbox option.
