Samsung on its MWC event showed off its first look at the new smartwatch software called One UI Watch. The new OS is based on Wear OS as Samsung co-developed the software with Google. Samsung says that the new interface is designed to make the Galaxy Watch and smartphone experience more deeply connected. The company confirms that the OS will first feature in the upcoming Galaxy Watch that will go official in Samsung’s Unpacked event later this summer.
Samsung believes, with a new unified platform with Google, One UI Watch will create an entirely new Galaxy Watch experience. The new OS of Samsung has features like - once users install watch-compatible apps on their smartphone, they will be swiftly downloaded onto their smartwatch. Additional time zones set in the smartphone clock app will also appear on the watch. Also, the blocked callers on the smartphone will be blocked in the watch as well. Samsung has also added a new improved watch face design tool that will make it easier for designers to create new watch faces.

One UI Watch will offer third-party apps to download from the Google Play Store directly on the Galaxy Watch, all thanks to its unified platform and a diverse range of partners. Talking about the collaboration, Sameer Samat, Vice President of Product Management, Android and Wear, Google said- “Samsung and Google have a long history of collaboration and whenever we’ve worked together, the experience for our consumers has been dramatically better for everyone.”. Patrick Chomet, EVP and Head of Customer Experience Office, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics also added, “To unlock the full potential of these wearables, we’re leveraging our long legacy of mobile innovations and our partnerships with trusted industry leaders who have grown with us in our open ecosystem, Through these efforts, we will enrich our smartwatch experience and convenience of the Galaxy ecosystem for our consumers.”
As mentioned earlier, the upcoming Galaxy Watch will be the first recipient of the One UI Watch, which is scheduled to be announced at Samsung’s Unpacked event later this summer.
