Baleno, a premium hatchback made by India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki, has received a zero star rating in a recent crash test. Recently, in the Latin American Ncap Crash Test, Baleno could only receive zero stars.

Baleno scored 20.3 percent in the Adult Occupant Test, 17.06 percent in the Child Occupant Test, 64.06 percent in the Pedestrian Protection Test, and 6.98 percent in the Safety Assist Test.

The zero-star of this crash test of Baleno has raised serious questions about the safety of Maruti Suzuki's cars. Just a few weeks ago, Maruti Suzuki's other hatchback Swift also got zero stars.

Secretary-General of the Latin American NCAP, Alejandro Furus, said that along with Swift, Baleno's zero-star rating has made him disappointed.

He said the safety of adults and children in these cars was very weak in Latin safety standards.

Maruti Baleno has not had a global NCAP rating yet. The previous crash test of all Maruti cars had very poor results. Maruti's small car S.Presso also got a zero star rating in the test of Global Ncap held last November. Similarly, in the crash test conducted in 2018, Maruti Suzuki Swift only got a 2-star rating.
