Sipradi Trading Pvt. Ltd, the authorized distributor of Tata vehicles in Nepal has launched the all new Tata Hexa in Nepal. The company has decided to only launch the top of the line Hexa XT 4x4 variant in our country. The company claims that the Hexa is the most premium SUV in its segment. Priced at Rs. 7,795,000, the Hexa includes a lot of features that you would expect in SUVs of a class above.
The Tata Hexa is powered by a 2.2L Varicor 400 Diesel engine churning our 156PS power and 400Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. There's no option of an automatic gearbox as of now.
Tata was never quite able to penetrate the premium SUV market in Nepal but it is looking to change all that with the introduction of the New Hexa. Tata has thrown in as many features as possible in their premium SUV offering. The XT variant comes with 6 Airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Hold Control (HHC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), ABS with EBD all as standard. That's quite a lot of safety features if you ask me. Also, the ground clearance of 200mm is good for the roads that we have in our country.
Tata Hexa is a very large SUV. It is as long as the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour and can perfectly sit 7 passengers on board. Fortunately though, it doesn't cost as much as either of the two. Also, Tata has introduced their new terrain management system and have provided a dedicated knob to control different drive modes. The driver can choose from Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road terrain. The throttle response of the SUV will respond accordingly. The ground clearance of 200mm will limit extreme offroading, however.
For anyone with a large family who travel frequently, Tata Hexa can be an excellent choice. Also, if you happen to carry a lot of luggage frequently, the Hexa will be a bliss for you. But if you mostly drive in the city and only have one or two passengers aboard, it's better to look elsewhere. The steering can feel heavy at low speeds and the omission of an automatic gearbox sure is disappointing. The Hexa clearly isn't meant for Kathmandu bumper-to-bumper city driving.
You can book your test drive of the all new Tata Hexa by visiting the Tata Motors Nepal showroom at Thapathali, Kathmandu. You can also contact them by dailing 01-4250610 or 01-4250612.
