While Nepal has started selling electricity in the Indian market for the first time, the government has also started various efforts to increase the internal consumption of electricity. The government had reduced customs and excise duty on electric vehicles through the budget of the current fiscal year. Discussions had resumed on the issue of reducing customs duty as well.

Upcoming Electric Cars in Nepal
Mahindra eKUV100
It is expected that the electric KUV 100, which was first showcased by Mahindra at the Delhi Auto Show in 2020, will arrive in Nepal by April 2022. eKUV100 is a model produced under micro SUV design. Mahindra will have a 15.9 kWh lithium-ion battery.
The company has provided a 40 kW capacity motor in it. Mahindra's eKUV100 can be charged up to 80 percent in 55 minutes with a fast charger. The company has stated that the vehicle will provide a range of 150 km on a single full charge.
Tata Tigor EV
Tata has already started selling its compact sedan Tigor EV in India and is expected to launch the car soon in Nepal as well. Tata has also stated that it will bring all its currently selling models in electric version. The Tata Tigor EV sedan offers a range of 306 km on a single full charge.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Electric
The WagonR EV will be the first EV to be launched by Maruti Suzuki. The WagonR which has been sold in the Indian market for more than two decades now is coming soon in an electric version.

The company is expected to power the car with a 30-kilowatt-hour battery that will provide a range of more than 250 kilometers on a single full charge.
GWM Ora R1
The small hatchback car brought to the market by Greatwall Motors- Ora R1 is coming soon in Nepal. The R1, which is expected to be brought to Nepal in January 2022, has a 33 kWh lithium-polymer battery. The company claims to offer a range of up to 300 kilometers on a single full charge. This car has a 35 kW motor.
Renault K-ZE
The electric version of Renault's popular hatchback Kwid is being sold in China under the name K-ZE. The car, which is expected to go on sale in Nepal from next year, has a battery pack of 26.8 kWh. The KZE, which has a range of up to 350 km on a full charge, is powered by a 28.6-kilowatt motor.
