Introduction
The ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 has reached the semi-final stage, and now viewers in Nepal can watch the remaining games for free. Till now, Media Hub (who have the exclusive right to broadcast this year’s World Cup in Nepal) opted for a Pay-Per-View (PPV) model, a first for Nepal. Now, the company has announced that the semi-final and the final match of the Qatar World Cup 2022 will be broadcasted for free.
Watch FIFA World Cup For Free in Nepal
This year the Qatar World Cup 2022 matches are being broadcasted through the 'Himalaya Premium' channel, for which the subscription fee is Rs.500 + 13% VAT which totals Rs.565 for one STB (Set Top Box). The price is on top of the regular subscription fee you pay for your cable TV, which makes the World Cup 2022 a little expensive for Nepalese viewers. Also, customers who did not pay the fee were deprived of watching the World Cup live from the Nepali channel.
However, for the semi-final and final matches, viewers in Nepal can enjoy the games through the Himalaya HD channel for free. Previously, Media Hub also broadcasted the opening ceremony of the Qatar World Cup 2022 for free.
The first semi-final match is between Argentina and Croatia on Tuesday night at 12:45, and the second semi-final match is between France and Morocco on Wednesday night at 12:45. Likewise, the final match will be held on December 18, Sunday at 8:45 PM.
Conclusion
The Pay-Per-View (PPV) strategy implemented by Media Hub made the 2022 World Cup a tad pricey for Nepalese spectators. Although the firm is now airing the World Cup's remaining semifinal and championship games for free, the majority of users have already purchased a membership at this stage. Even those who chose not to subscribe have discovered other ways to watch the 2022 World Cup for free.
