Wuling Hong Guang Mini EV, a small mini electric vehicle from China has beaten the top-selling leader on the EV segment, the Tesla Model 3. Yes! that’s true, the China-made mini electric car becomes the best-selling EV for January and February leaving Tesla run for the money.
The Hong Guang Mini EV carries a price tag of CNY 28,800 ($4409) in China while the standard variant of the Model 3 Electric sedan costs you $38,190.
According to the reports from The Verge, more than 36,000 units of Wuling Hong Guang Mini EV has been sold only in the month of January 2021. On the other hand, Tesla could only sell 21,500 units of Model 3 for the same month. Likewise, for February, Hong Guang Mini EV sold more than 20,000 units while only 13,700 units were in the hand of Tesla Model 3.

The Wuling Hong Guang Mini EV is claimed to provide a range of 170 km and it can attain a top speed of 100km/hr.
The EV comes with two battery options- 9.3kWh and 13.8 kWh- offering a range of 120km and 170km respectively. The single electric motor on the Hong Guang Mini EV delivers a peak power of 17.4bhp alongside a peak torque of 85Nm. This one adopts a passenger-carrying capacity of 4 persons.
