Apple posted their financial report of the fiscal 2021 second quarter from January through March. The March quarter recorded a revenue of $89.6 billion for Apple with 54% year-over-year growth. Almost 67% of the quarter’s total revenue was made from sales outside of the US. Previously, Apple in their first quarter surpassed $100 billion in revenue.
Breaking down the financial report, iPhone was the major performer for Apple as the smartphones generated almost $48 billion of the total Q2 revenue with 66% year-on-year growth. Apple Macs generated $9.1 billion with 70% year-on-year growth whereas the iPads netted $7.8 billion of the total revenue with 78% year-on-year growth. Shift towards online studies and work because of the COVID-19 pandemic seem to have boosted the sales of Apple Macs and iPad.

“This quarter reflects both the enduring ways our products have helped our users meet this moment in their own lives, as well as the optimism consumers, seem to feel about better days ahead for all of us,” - Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
“We are proud of our March quarter performance, which included revenue records in each of our geographic segments and strong double-digit growth in each of our product categories, driving our installed base of active devices to an all-time high,” - Luca Maestri, Apple’s CFO.
Apple is looking to carry its first two-quarters of momentum further into the fiscal year. The tech giant just recently held their first event of 2021 introducing M1-powered iMacs and iPad Pro, Purple iPhones, 4K streaming TV box, and more. With iPhone 13 on the horizon, it seems Apple will end the second half of the current fiscal year on a high note.
