Xiaomi has launched its latest Black Shark gaming series smartphones in China. The series features three phones, and the Black Shark 5 Pro is the top-end model in the series. It brings specs like Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, 120W fast charging, SSD + UFS storage, and more. So, let’s go through the detailed specs, features, availability, and expected price of the Black Shark 5 Pro in Nepal. 

 

Black Shark 5 Pro Overview

Design and Display

 

Black Shark 5 Pro features a 6.67-inch Samsung E4 AMOLED panel with an FHD+ resolution of 400 x 1080 pixels. The display here has a 144Hz refresh rate, 720Hz touch sampling rate, a dual-zone pressure-sensitive screen, and an 8.3ms multi-finger touch response delay. Similarly, this 10-bit display also supports HDR10+ and DCI-P3 color gamut. 

The entire Black Shark 5 series smartphones are equipped with the second-generation magnetic powerlifting shoulder keys that use a 7-level magnet drive and built-in gaming-grade micro-switches. The device comes in two color options - Meteorite Black and Tiangong White. It measures 9.5mm thick and weighs 220 grams.

Performance

 

In terms of performance, the smartphone is powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. There’s 512GB of internal storage split equally between an NVMe SSD and UFS 3.1 (256GB + 256GB) in a Disk Array 2.0 system that has increased the read and write speeds by 55% and 69%, respectively. It is a similar tech that we saw on Lenovo’s gaming phone Legion Y90. 

To utilize the power of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the Black Shark 5 Pro uses two VC liquid cooling plates that are three-dimensionally distributed, with a total area of ​​an astonishing 5320mm² (4,323 mm² + 997 mm², one on each side). Further, an anti-gravity track design is added inside the VC to enhance the capillary force and enhance the ability of the liquid to upstream.

Camera 

 

For optics, the triple-camera setup at the back features a 108MP Samsung S5KHM2 main lens, a 13MP ultrawide with 120° FoV, and a 5MP macro sensor. Upfront is a 16MP AI camera for selfies and video calls. The rear camera setup can capture a maximum of 4K videos at 60 frames per second, while the front camera caps out at 1080p@30fps.

Battery and Others

 

Black Shark 5 Pro packs a 4650mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging. Xiaomi claims that the device can be fully charged in just 15 minutes. There’s also a feature called Bypass Supply that directly supplies power to the mobile bypassing the battery while external power is plugged in. It is a great feature if you enjoy long hours of gaming as it effectively reduces the heat dissipation burden on the battery. 

Connectivity options on the device include 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. There’s an X-axis linear motor for better haptic feedback and four microphones arranged on each of the four sides of the phone. Furthermore, there are two flagship 1216P speakers with 1.5 cc cavities. Currently, the Black Shark 5 Pro is rated No.1 on DxOMark’s audio chart with 86 points.

Black Shark 5 Pro will be available from April 2 in China at a starting price of  CNY 4,199 for the base 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model. Usually, the Black Shark gaming smartphones don’t launch here in the Nepali market, but if the smartphone does launch, we expect the price to start around Rs.90,000.
