Maruti Suzuki Launches eVitara: Expected Price & Launch Date

In a groundbreaking move, Suzuki Motor Corporation revealed its premiere mass-market electric vehicle, the eVitara, at a launch event in Milan, Italy. Manufacturing will initiate at the company's Gujarat facility in India during the spring of 2025, followed by a widespread release across Indian, European, and Japanese markets in the summer of 2025.

The eVitara, which originated from the Maruti eVX concept showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo in India and subsequently at the Japan Mobility Show, enters a competitive landscape. In the Indian market, it will challenge established competitors like the Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV, along with forthcoming models including the Hyundai Creta EV and Mahindra Be 6e.

Branded as an "Emotional Versatile Cruiser," this pioneering electric SUV integrates cutting-edge technology with traditional SUV capabilities. Its design showcases oversized wheels, an extended wheelbase, and an imposing presence, complemented by a tech-forward interior featuring integrated displays and robust construction.

The Suzuki eVitara is likely to start around INR 20 lakh ex-showroom for the base versions. Models with 61 kWh battery will probably cost upwards of INR 25 lakhs, and fully loaded all-wheel-drive equipped versions of eVitara might come close to INR 30 lakhs.

Tata Curvv EV vs Maruti Suzuki eVitara

The Tata Curvv EV and Maruti Suzuki eVitara stand out in the electric SUV segment, each bringing unique features tailored for sustainability and performance. The Tata Curvv EV, crafted by Tata Motors, emphasizes a long-range capability, offering up to 585 km per charge with a 55 kWh battery. It also sports sleek, modern aesthetics, innovative interior tech like a digital steering wheel, and safety measures including 6 airbags and a 360-degree camera.

On the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki eVitara, set for release in 2025, is Suzuki’s pioneering electric model featuring advanced SUV capabilities. Unlike the Curvv’s 2WD-only setup, the eVitara offers both 2WD and 4WD options powered by dual battery choices (49 kWh and 61 kWh). Suzuki’s ALLGRIP-e 4WD technology and specialized Trail mode make it ideal for versatile driving, while its HEARTECT-e platform enhances interior space and battery integration.

Price-wise, the Curvv starts at ₹17.49 lakh in India, making it more budget-friendly compared to the eVitara’s projected starting price of ₹20 lakh, which could reach ₹30 lakh for 4WD models. While the Curvv EV excels in range and tech-forward design, the eVitara targets those seeking a robust, 4WD-capable EV with a focus on off-road utility. Both models cater to eco-conscious drivers, but the choice between them will depend on budget, range preference, and driving needs.
