Every company must step outside its comfort zone as the automotive industry changes quickly. This is the reason why sports car manufacturers are releasing SUVs while premium automakers are releasing quick-charging electric vehicles.
One such recognizable brand, Mercedes-AMG, has chosen to support the environmental movement and aims to reshape the premium EV market. Experience the EQS 53 4Matic+, the first-ever all-electric AMG.
The EV sedan appears to have a ton of cutting-edge technologies and a power output that will put many sports vehicles with internal combustion engines to shade.
The first all-electric series production Mercedes AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ from the German automaker's performance division, AMG, was recently introduced in India. It will engage the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and Audi RS E-Tron GT head-on in combat.
Here are some details on the 2022 EQS's characteristics, features, and estimated cost.
Design (Exterior and Interior)
A stylish coupe design and a blacked-out paint treatment are seen on the AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+. With a DRL that extends from one end to the other, it will have complete LED lighting. The grille region of the EQS, which is an electric vehicle, will have a distinctive design with a giant Mercedes-Benz logo in the center and chrome inlays.
The AMG EQS will once more have lighting components that run the length of the vehicle at the back. A curving 3D helix will also be created by the rear brake lights. The EQS has a big rear spoiler, a back apron, and an aerodynamic diffuser with six longitudinal fins.
It also has light alloy wheels that are 21 or 22 inches in diameter and come in Aero or Heritage designs from AMG. The 56-inch MBUX Hyperscreen combines three distinct OLED displays into a single curved piece of Gorilla Glass and appears to be floating over the dashboard, making it the first Mercedes-Benz vehicle to do so.
It contains 24 GB of RAM and 8 CPU cores to power it. With the aid of twelve motors tucked under the touchscreen, it also has haptic feedback. The Hyperscreen's three integrated displays have respective sizes of 12.3 inches, 17.7 inches, and 12.3 inches.
Additional features in the EQS cabin include massaging seats, a Burmester sound system with 15 speakers and 710 watts, 64-color ambient lighting, and Nappa leather (offered as an option). Its interior also features AMG lettering on the door sills, sports pedals, floor mats, and steering wheel buttons.
Performance and battery
A 108 kWh battery pack will power the dual electric motor configuration in the 2022 Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+, which is based on a performance-oriented driving concept The EQS 53 4Matic+ produces 649 HP and 950 Nm in regular mode, but a specific Dynamic Plus package with a Race Start mode may increase those numbers to a monstrous 761 HP and 1020 Nm.
With a battery that is 75% charged, the all-electric luxury sedan can reach 100 km/hr in 3.4 seconds while operating in Race Start mode, which is 0.4 seconds faster than the normal model. The Dynamic Plus upgrade raises the peak speed to 250 km/hr from the regular model's electronically capped top speed of 220 km/hr.
It is offered with the all-wheel drive system AMG Performance 4matic+. There are four AMG Dynamics Select driving modes available for the electric sedan: Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual.
With a 200 kW supply, the battery pack can be DC-fast charged, providing power for up to 300 km (WLTP) in 19 minutes. The electrified AMG can easily be charged with up to 22 kW of AC supply thanks to the onboard charger. For effective energy recovery, the vehicle has paddle shifters for regulating the level of recuperation.
The battery management system is set up with different driving modes specifically for AMG. For instance, performance is prioritized in the so-called Sport and Sport+ driving modes while the operating range is prioritized in Comfort mode.
