Qualcomm announces Smartphone for Snapdragon Insider | comes with Snapdragon 888 and 144Hz AMOLED display

Qualcomm is the company behind the Snapdragon processors that powers many smartphones of different brands, ranging from flagship to budget-oriented. Now to showcase its technology, the company has announced a custom smartphone in partnership with Asus.

The smartphone is called “Smartphone for Snapdragon Insider,” which makes sense when you know that the smartphone is for the members of its Snapdragon Insider fan community that consists of more than 1.6 million Qualcomm enthusiasts and fans.

Targeted towards its dedicated fans, you may think the smartphone will be somewhat affordable. No, the smartphone ain’t cheap, it comes with a hefty price tag of $1,500. But it does have all the specifications that you want from a 2021 flagship smartphone, and sadly it is exactly like every other flagship Android smartphone in the market. But the hefty price tag does give you an additional Qualcomm Quick Charge 5.0 power adapter, two charging cables, a bumper case, and a pair of Snapdragon TWS earbuds on the package itself, which is rare these days for the Flagship smartphones.

Smartphone for Snapdragon Insider Overview

Designed by Asus, the smartphone looks like a mixture of Asus Zenfone and ROG smartphones. It has a 6.78-inch Samsung AMOLED display that supports a 144Hz fast refresh rate. With a resolution of 2448 x 1080 pixels, the display has a peak brightness of 1200 nits and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

Being a Qualcomm smartphone, under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, which is a questionable choice as the company has already announced its improved Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset. Moving on, it has 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 512GB of internal storage, and operates on Android 11.

The phone can shoot 8K videos at 30 frames per second, and 4K videos at 30 or 60FPS

Powering the device is a 4000mAh battery that is compatible with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 5.0. The smartphone is capable of getting from 0% to 100% in just 50 minutes. There’s a fingerprint scanner at the back of the device and it uses Qualcomm’s 2nd generation 3D Sonic Sensor. Furthermore, the device also supports Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2 for wireless connectivity.
