Samsung officially details the Exynos 1280 chipset | offers 5G and AI capabilities

After launching multiple new smartphones powered by its new processor, Samsung has now officially announced the Exynos 1280 chipset. Smartphones powered by this new chip from Samsung are already available in the Nepali market. Samsung has just unveiled the in-depth specs and capabilities of the Exynos 1280 chip that powers smartphones like- the Galaxy A33, Galaxy A53, and Galaxy M33.

Samsung Exynos 1280 Overview

Samsung Exynos 1280 is built using a 5nm EUV process. It features two Arm Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at 2.4Ghz and six Cortex-A55 power-efficient cores clocked at 2.0GHz.  Handling the graphics here is the Valhall-based Arm Mali-G68 GPU that has been optimized with Fused Multiply-Add (FMA) for better power consumption and battery life. The neural processing unit (NPU) on the chip is said to offer up to 4.3 trillion operations per second (TOPS), which include high-quality AI functions.  

The Exynos 1280 is a 5G-enabled chipset that supports both sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G. In sub-6GHz, the processor supports downlink and uplink speeds of up to 2.55Gbps and 1.28Gbps, respectively. Its image signal processor (ISP) can handle a maximum resolution of up to 108MP and up to 16MP triple camera with zero shutter lag. As far as video goes, it supports  4K video recording and playback at up to 30 frames per second. Lastly, the Exynos 1280 can handle displays with Full HD+ resolution and a fast refresh rate of up to 120Hz. 

Smartphones powered by the Samsung Exynos 1280 chipset are already available in the market.
