Vivo has launched its first flagship foldable smartphone called the Vivo X Fold. The device brings a 120Hz E5 LTPO OLED 3.0 display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, and an aerospace-grade hinge design. According to Vivo, the smartphone has been in development for four years. In this post, we will be looking at the specifications, features, expected price, and availability of the Vivo X Fold in Nepal.

Vivo X Fold Overview

Design and Display

Starting with the hinge of the smartphone, the device has a floating wing hinge design that is made out of six-layer aerospace-grade materials and UTG (ultra-thin glass). It is a TÜV Rheinland certified hinge that allows the smartphone to close flat and open at an angle between 60 to 120-degree. 

While folded, the Vivo X Fold greets you with a 6.53-inch E5 OLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 21:9 aspect ratio. The cover display here supports a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and 100% DCI P3 color gamut. The main inner foldable display is an 8.03-inch LTPO 3.0 E5 OLED display with 2k resolution. It also supports a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and has a 113% DCI P3 color gamut. The display here can slow down up to 1Hz and has the protection of  UTG (ultra-thin glass). Vivo was able to bag a DisplayMate A+ rating on its display.

Performance 

 

Vivo X Fold is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. It comes with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 onboard storage. On the software side, it runs on the Android 12 based OriginOS. There’s also a 27217 mm2  heat dissipation area to keep the smartphone cool. 

The device packs a 4600mAh battery with support for 66W fast wired charging and 50W fast wireless charging. The 67W charging is claimed to fully charge the device in just 37 minutes. Further, the smartphone ships with an 80W Gallium Nitride (GaN) charger inside the box.

Camera 

 

For optics, the Vivo X Fold features a quad camera setup tuned by Zeiss. The main camera here is a 50MP Samsung GN5 sensor with OIS (optical image stabilization). It is then followed by a 48MP ultrawide with 114° FoV, a 12MP portrait lens, and an 8MP telephoto lens with up to 5x optical zoom and up to 60x digital zoom. The collaboration with Zessis brings the Zessis T coating that offers the anti-glare ability to all lenses and other professional imaging modes. 

The smartphone features two selfie cameras, one on each display. Both the cameras are 16MP sensors with f/2.45 aperture. 

 

Other Features

 

Connectivity options on the device include 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and a USB-Type-C port. It features an in-display 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner on both displays. There’s also an independent Hi-Fi chip for impressive audio and high-end sound quality. Furthermore, the Vivo X Fold is offered in two color options - Sunny Mountain Blue and Sycamore Ash.

Vivo X Fold starts at CNY 8,999 for the base 12GB RAM + 256GB model, while the higher 12/512GB model costs CNY 9,999. The smartphone is currently exclusive to China, where it will go on sale starting on the 22nd of April. Details about its global availability are yet to be announced.
