World’s cheapest electric car, ORA 1 unveiled at Auto Expo 2020 | Might cost around 15 lakhs if launched in Nepal

At the ongoing Auto Expo 2020 happening in India, the world’s cheapest electric car, ORA R1 has grabbed the attention of most of the viewers. The ORA R1 is the world’s most affordable electric car.


As various Nepali automobile entrepreneur has also participated in the Expo, the car has been also able to allure the focus of Nepali business. Various businessmen are visiting the Auto Expo as a delegation of NADA.

The ORA R1 is a city car presented and produced by Great Wall Motors under the electric vehicle sub-brand, ORA since 2019. According to the firm, ORA stands for ‘open, reliable and alternative’.

Great Wall Motors doesn’t have any sole distributor in Nepal so we cannot purchase any of its car models in our country. Therefore, most of the auto enthusiasts are fascinated by who is interested in introducing this car in the Nepali market?

More on, speaking of the ORA R1, the electric car is powered by a 28.5kWh lithium-ion battery along with a 35kW permanent magnet motor which delivers a power of 47bhp. Great Wall Motors claim it to provide a range of 301km on a full charge.

Wheelbase- 2475mm

(Length*Width*Height) in mm- (3495*1660*1560) mm

Coming on to the insides, the ORA R1 features a 9.0-inches touchscreen infotainment system. Other features include connected car technology, tire-pressure monitoring system, reverse parking sensor, and cameras.

The ORA R1 electric car is based on the company’s ME Pure Electric Platform.

Price and Availability

The new ORA R1 electric car comes with a price tag of 59,800 yuan ($8680). If the electric car is ever released in Nepal, it might cost around 15 lakhs in the Nepali market.
