Xiaomi releases its Sustainability Report for 2020. The report details company’s good doing towards the environment and society.
The reports of Xiaomi read how the company has designed its products to incorporate environmental protection. Xiaomi claims they used 60% less plastic in the packaging of the Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro series. Further, the Chinese tech giant is planning on reducing a higher percentage of plastic in the packaging of its new products in Europe by the end of 2021.
Xiaomi has also rolled out its trade-in program in China, Germany, France, Italy, and Netherland, where its smartphones can be returned for recycling and responsible disposal. The company is planning to expand the program in furthermore countries and will be able to collect and recycle their used products in China, India, and Europe by the end of 2021.

Xiaomi was also active during the COVID-19 pandemic. In March 2020, it donated tens of thousands of FFP3 face masks to the Italian government. Children in Spain taking online lessons were donated 1,000 smartphones. As of July 15, 2020, Xiaomi has donated medical supplies worth RMB 5.9 million ($854,000) in 14 different countries. Throughout 2020, the company has distributed 2.7 million masks, 50,000 pairs of disposable gloves, and 28,000 protective suits in over 40 countries.
