Canalys: the global PC market share has continued to grow in the second quarter of 2021. The overall PC market that includes desktops, notebooks, and workstations hit 82.3 million units in shipments with 13% annual growth. Out of the 82.3 million units, 66.7 million units were NoteBook and mobile workstations, while the rest of the 15.6 million units were accounted for desktops and desktop workstations. Both the Desktop and Notebook market saw year-on-year growth of 15% and 6% respectively.
Reports claim that this is highly due to pandemic-driven urgency for consumers to get their hands on PCs.

According to the reports, all the top five PC vendors managed to see shipment growth in the Q2 of 2021. Lenovo leads the global market with a 24.3% market share shipping more than 20 million units of PCs. The Chinese company saw annual growth of 14.7%.
HP covered a 22.6% market share with its 18.5 million units in shipment but has the lowest annual growth of 2.8% among the top five vendors. Dell came third with its healthy annual growth of 16.5% and covered 17.0% of the global PC market share.
Talking about the PC Market Research Director Rushabh Doshi of Canalys said, “The PC market could not be in a better position. The slowdown in consumer demand, stemming from the fulfillment of backlogs and greater market penetration, has been nicely balanced by growing commercial demand, as markets around the world limp back to normality. PC vendors now have two key business opportunities – first-time PC users and upgraders.”
According to analysts, the PC market should see an increase in sales next year. Apple with ARM and macOS updates, Microsoft with Windows 11, and Google with Chrome OS should drive the sales of the PC market.
