Global Tablet shipments were down by 15% in Q3 2021 | Apple dominates the market with 40.4% share

Global Tablet shipments have declined by 15% in Q3 2021 (July-September) compared to last year. According to the reports of Canalys, a total of 37.7 million tablets were shipped during the period, while in Q3 2020 the shipment was 44.3 million units.

“Despite the end of its stellar growth streak, the tablet market remains strong, considering the long period of declines that preceded the COVID-19 pandemic.” “In most of the world, demand from consumers and to support basic education functions for younger children has slowed compared to the height of the pandemic.”

Apple continues to dominate the market with 15.2 million shipments for the period covering a 40.4% market share. Samsung was second with its 19.1% market share shipping 7.2 million tablets. Lenovo rounds up in the top 3, shipping 4.3 million units of tablets. 

Amazon and Huawei did see themselves in the top 5, but both companies saw a significant decline in market share on yearly basis. Amazon experienced a decline of 44.5% in its market share, while Huawei’s share fell by 50.9%.

After five consecutive growth quarters, all regions except the Asia Pacific suffered a fall in shipments. APAC saw a 23% rise in shipments for Q3 2021, while the EMEA region saw a decline of 27% compared to 2020.
