Introduction
OnePlus recently launched its latest premium smartphone called the OnePlus 10T. The smartphone brings some insane features like 150W charging, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, and more for just $649. With specs of a premium smartphone and the price of a mid-ranger, the OnePlus 10T is one of the best value-for-money smartphones in 2022.
So, can we call the OnePlus 10T 5G the ultimate flagship phone of the year? Let’s find out.
Where OnePlus 10T Excels
Performance
For the price of a mid-range smartphone, with the OnePlus 10T, you get the best Android chipset currently available. It features the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Moreover, the SD8+ Gen 1 is built on TSMC 4nm and clocked at up to 3.2 GHz. In addition, the chip also brings 30% better power efficiency and improves CPU and GPU performance by 10%.
Not only that, but the 10T also gives you up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and an upgraded cooling system over the 10 Pro. It features the company’s first ultra-thin vapor cooling system. For instance, it combines a 37038.8 mm² larger cooling area, advanced materials, and a redesigned heat dissipation channel for improved thermal performance.
Charging Speeds
Charging speed is another area where the OnePlus 10T is unmatched. It supports a 150W SuperVOOC charging that can fully charge the phone in 19 minutes. Besides, the phone also packs 13 temperature sensors, a specially customized Smart Charging Chip, and 128-bit encryption to ensure enhanced charging safety. OnePlus has claimed a battery lifespan of 800 to 1,600 cycles.
Currently, the OnePlus 10T is among the fastest charging smartphones in the world.
Where other flagship Smartphones crushes OnePlus 10T
Camera
The camera is the most crucial part of modern-day smartphones. Sadly, the OnePlus 10T doesn’t have the best cameras. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an excellent camera setup for the price, but it’s not enough to give the OnePlus 10T the Ultimate Flagship Phone of the Year title.
The phone comes with a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro lens. If you compare, even its Pro sibling has a better camera system with a 48MP Sony IMX789 primary sensor, a 50MP ISOCELL JN1 ultra-wide, and an 8MP telephoto lens. Moreover, the OnePlus 10T even drops the Hasselblad Optimization.
Display
The display on the OnePlus 10T is good, but it’s not the flagship level. Like the cameras, even the OnePlus 10 Pro has a better, more advanced LTPO2 display with Gorilla Glass Victus protection. So, we are far off comparing the OnePlus 10T’s display with smartphones like the S22 Ultra and 13 Pro Max.
Other Competition

It is unfair to compare the OnePlus 10T with other flagship smartphones as it is a mid-range device. However, if it's claiming to be the Ultimate Flagship Phone of the Year, you simply have to.
Yes, the 10T does feature some specs that are at level or even better than most of the flagships of 2022. However, for mobile companies to bring a phone with some flagship specs at mid-range pricing, they must compromise on some other aspects of the phone. So is the case with the OnePlus 10T.
OnePlus has gone with a basic camera and display setup with the 10T, and even some generic features like the alert slider and wireless charging are missing from the smartphone.
Honestly speaking, the OnePlus 10T is not even close to smartphones like Galaxy S22 Ultra, iPhone 13 Pro Max, and Xiaomi 12S Ultra, which are the proper Ultimate Flagship Phone of 2022. If fact, this new OnePlus phone is more in line with smartphones like Zenpone 9 and Xiaomi 12.
Conclusion
OnePlus 10T is one of the best value-for-money smartphones, but it can’t be called the Ultimate Flagship Phone of the Year. To get the crown of the Ultimate Flagship, the smartphone must deliver the best of all worlds, which the 10T doesn’t. At most, I would rank the OnePlus 10T as the best mid-ranger or a flagship killer.
