Sony has launched a new flagship smartphone called Xperia Pro-I. Apart from its camera-focused specs, the smartphone has a Snapdragon 888 processor, a 120Hz OLED display, and a 4500mAh battery. Sony Xperia Pro-I Overview

Camera

Sony Xperia Pro-I is a camera-focused smartphone with a triple 12-megapixel camera setup at the back. The main attraction here is a 1-inch sensor borrowed from the company's RX100 VII compact camera. Complementing the sensor is a 24mm ZEISS lens, which can switch between f/2.0 and f/4.0 apertures. The inclusion of Sony's BIONZ X imaging processors makes the smartphone able to shoot up to 20 frames per second with both auto-focus and auto-exposure enabled. It can also record 4K videos at 120fps both eye-AF and object tracking.

Along with the primary camera, there is a 12-megapixel 16mm ultrawide camera with 124-degree FoV and another 12-megapixel 50mm telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. Upfront is an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. Adding on, the Xperia Pro-I has two physical camera controls (shutter key and camera shortcut button).

Design and Display

Sony Xperia Pro-I features a 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED display with a DCI-P3 color gamut. The display here supports a 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz motion blur, and 240Hz touch sampling rate.

Compared to other Xperia phones, the pill-shaped camera module is now on the top-mid of the back panel with a circular 1-inch camera sensor. The smartphone gets the protection of Gorilla Glass Victus on the display and Gorilla Glass 6 on the back panel. Similarly, the device is IPX5/ IPX8 rated water-resistant and IPX6X rated dust resistant.

Performance

Running on Android 11, the Xperia Pro-I is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor along with 12GB of RAM. It comes with 512GB of onboard storage and the option to expand it further up to 1TB using a MicroSD card.

Battery and Others

Sony Xperia Pro-I packs a 4500mAh battery and comes with a 30-watt power adapter inside the box. There is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometrics. The connectivity option on the device includes WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, an USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Sony Xperia Pro-I Price and Availability

Sony Xperia Pro-I comes with a hefty price tag of USD 1,799.99. The smartphone will go on sale in December, with pre-orders opening on October 28th. The chances of the smartphone arriving in the Nepali market are slim.
