The air quality of the Kathmandu valley has significantly improved in recent days after this lockdown. In addition, the recent heavy rainfall in Kathmandu has additionally helped in decreasing the pollutants in the air. Yesterday, at 2 pm, the volume of PM2.5 had reached 5 micrograms per cubic meter.

Environmental expert Bhusan Tuladhar says, ‘This is about ten times less than the average air pollution in Kathmandu per year and half of the World Health Organization standards. Last year, in March 2019, the PM2.5 level had reached 66 micrograms per cubic meter.'

The PM2.5 gives information on the quality of air. Alike Kathmandu, various other cities of the globe have also shown significant improvement in the air quality. Even polluted cities like Delhi have become clean in recent days.
